Release Paper

Release Paper customzied color and weight Core Structure & Key Components: A high-quality release paper typically consists of three functional layers, each contributing to its overall performance: Base Paper Layer: The foundational structure that provides mechanical strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability. Common base materials include kraft paper (for high tensile strength), woodfree paper (for smoothness), and specialty papers (e.g., glassine paper for thinness and transparency). For demanding applications, synthetic bases like polyester (PET) film are also used to enhance water resistance and temperature tolerance. Primer Layer: A thin coating applied to the base paper to improve adhesion between the base and the release layer. It prevents “release layer transfer” (where the release coating sticks to the adhesive instead of the base paper) and ensures uniform coverage of the subsequent release agent. Release Layer: The critical outermost layer that determines the paper’s anti-adhesive performance. It is usually formulated with silicone-based polymers, which create a low-surface-energy surface that repels adhesives. The type and concentration of silicone, along with curing conditions, directly influence the release force—a key parameter for end-use suitability. Classification by Material & Performance: Release paper can be categorized based on base material, release agent type, and release force, allowing users to select the optimal option for specific applications: By Base Material: Kraft release paper offers high tear resistance, ideal for heavy-duty uses like industrial tape and construction adhesive products. Glassine release paper, with its ultra-smooth and translucent surface, is a top choice for food packaging labels, medical sterile dressings, and cosmetic sticker sheets. Synthetic release paper, built on PET or PE substrates, excels in harsh environments with its waterproof, oil-resistant, and high-temperature-resistant properties, making it suitable for electronic component manufacturing and automotive adhesive parts. By Release Force: Light release paper features minimal silicone coating, enabling easy peeling for weak-adhesion products such as self-adhesive stickers and promotional labels. Medium release paper balances peel resistance and adhesion retention, fitting general-purpose tapes and laminating films. Heavy release paper is engineered with a dense silicone layer, designed for strong-adhesion products like industrial double-sided tapes and foam adhesives, ensuring no residue is left on the adhesive surface after removal. |
