Thermal paper is a specialized type of paper that is coated with a chemical material that changes color when heated. This type of paper is commonly used in cash registers and point-of-sale terminals to provide a receipt for customers. Thermal paper is also used for fax machines, medical imaging equipment, and any other printing that requires a hard copy. The chemical material used in thermal paper is usually made from an organic dye or a pigment, which changes its color when exposed to heat. Depending on the type of thermal paper, the reaction to heat can be either permanent or reversible. For example, some thermal paper will produce a black or blue image when exposed to heat, while others will produce a white or yellow image.
